What You Need to Make this Rainbow Friendship Bracelet Bracelet:

  • Embroidery floss in black, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red
  • A piece of black cord about 5″ long, or make one with embroidery floss (I don’t show this in the video, but I made the cord myself out of embroidery floss folded twice i.e 4 strands together)
  • Safety pin

Before You Begin

  • Cut 4 lengths of black embroidery floss (32″ long each)
  • Cut 1 length each of the other colors about 15-18″ long

Step 1

Fold the 4 strands of black in half, and attach them to the black cord using lark’s head knots or knots of your choice

Pin the works to your pant leg for easy knotting

Step 2

Take the purple strand of floss, and tie it to the leftmost black string using a basic overhand knot, and slide it up to the top.

Step 3

Knot bracelet as follows:

Row 1 – With the purple (traveler strand), make forward knots onto each of the black strands (anchor strands) ) all the way across

Forward knot instructions are here.

Row 2 – Using the same purple strand and working from right to left, make backwards knots onto the black anchor strands all the way across.

Backwards knot instructions are here.

Rows 3 onward: Repeat rows 1 and 2, changing colors after every eighth row. (See the video for instructions on changing colors)

The color order is as follows:

  1. Purple
  2. Blue
  3. Green
  4. Yellow
  5. Orange
  6. Red
