Meteorite Jewelry
For centuries, people have loved wearing meteorite jewelry, not only because it is fashionable, but they believe that it holds a variety of different healing properties.
Even though many of these qualities have been disproven by science today, we just can’t get enough of this fun jewelry.
If you have never heard of it, you are probably wondering what all the fuss is about.
Meteorite Jewelry: What is it?
People have been intrigued for years about this type of jewelry. Just as the name says, this jewelry is made from meteors that hit the Earth, being shaped into a variety of pendants, beads, and different types of jewelry.
While you may think that meteor jewelry should be quite expensive, it is actually quite common. Since the beginning of time, meteors have been falling into our atmosphere, allowing people to collect these meteors and turn them into a variety of items. Our ancestors were even known to make weapons from these meteors.
Today, however, we usually make watches or jewelry form these meteorites.
How to Use Meteorites in Jewelry
If you’re a skilled jewelry maker, you can buy meteorites online and turn them into necklaces or bracelets. Some like to coat the stone with pewter and add an eye to string through. Others find fine pieces of metorite dust and include them in metal jewelry work.
Depending on the quality and strength of the meteorite material you find, you may be able to drill through it and use as a bead.
The only thing stopping most jewelry makers is their imagination. You can truly make just about anything form meteorites.
Risks with Meteorite Jewelry
One of the major issues with this type of jewelry is the fact that it is space debris. For this reason, you can find a variety of different metals inside meteorites themselves.
The most common of these is iron. While this may not seem like a big deal, iron can be highly magnetic, possibly doing damages to computer equipment. This type of jewelry should also be kept away from smart phones and laptops.
Other than this, however, there is very little risk to actually wearing jewelry made from meteorite.
Where Can I Get It?
You can usually find this jewelry at many jewelry stores or at tourist areas. 😉
