I make Hemp jewelery with beads at the moment but I really want to wrap semi precious stones in a hemp net and am stuck on how to do it, have been trying for months and just can’t find the technique, any advice?

You will need 16 strands of hemp (use 8 folded in half) all of your desired length. And one strand about 6 inches long.

Mount all 8 “working” strands to the smaller strand with a larks head knot side by side.

Tie the smaller mounting strand together with an over hand knot so it creates a circle out of the larks head knots. This is your base.

Now, separate into 4 groups of 4 strands each.

Make a square knot out of each group.

Now, just use the alternating square knot (ASK) pattern to work around the stone.

To finish I usually just gather all the hemp together and make one big square knot to hold it all together.

Then do a few different decorative knots to make a pendant. And then use the lose ends of the hemp from that as the fillers for the necklace itself.

Try using thin wire and then wrapping the hemp around the wire as in wire wrapping jewelry.. It works.

Copper works well. Just bend the wire in the shape you want it then wrap it around and around, connecting it to other wires.
